I really don't understand some of the negative reviews about this dehumidifier. Most of these include an electrical plug that needs to be connected to a wire, as the factory leaves it unplugged in case you run a small wire through a hole in the safe to access the outer plug. So you have to put the cable cap on the cable and it has 2 blades that dig into the cable to make contact. YOU MUST PULL THE CABLE FULLY INTO THE CABLE CAP WITH THE FORCE OF YOUR POWER and it will make contact. I'm a licensed master electrician and when I first did it the unit wouldn't turn on. The device has a blue indicator light that shows when it is on. So I took it apart and actually put the cable in the cable cap and after that it worked great. Very little air escapes from the top of the unit and my 30 gun safe went from 77% humidity to 30% overnight. WON'T MAKE YOUR RIFLE HOT SURE like other brands. I didn't want my safe to get hot as I also store silver and gold in it. Heat is the worst for precious metals. This article serves its purpose. So if you have guns and precious metals and don't want to get hot like other gun safe dehumidifiers, this is for you. In fact, I can't believe anyone has anything else. I had a 12 inch immersion heater from a reputable company that I have used for years. It now occupies a prominent place in the local landfill.
