I have had a Bose Lifestyle 48 system for many years and have been very happy with it. The system I have has digital optical audio and S-Video inputs, no HDMI. I was able to use an add-on box from Bose that allowed me to include an HDMI controller for video but then converted the audio to analogue and passed it through to the receiver. .When I wanted to integrate a Blu-ray player without buying a brand new Bose system, I wasn't sure what was the best thing to do, to ensure sound and video quality. while keeping my Bose system. I ended up using an HDMI splitter and then used this device to extract digital audio and convert it to digital optical. I can now run all my devices in digital 5.1 by streaming digital video through the HDMI output! I am very satisfied with the result and would recommend this product and buy it again. I only give 4 stars because of the short power cord. If it were a few feet longer I would give five stars for the whole day! Overall I'm very satisfied for the price. Update 5/8/17 This device stopped working properly after just a month. He transmitted the video but did not connect the audio to the blue-ray player. It also passed 5.1 as 2.0. while trying I missed the 30 day window to return an item.
