I didn't want to hire an electrician to install the lighting in my Victorian office so these lamps were perfect! I think some browsers must have had a lot of user errors as I had no trouble installing them or replacing the lightbulbs. Seriously, changing a lightbulb isn't that hard. They also look very nice and not cheap. All of them are metal and glass. The rear wires have been capped so they don't need to be grounded like someone else said - they're only there if you decide to change them from wired to direct. They were easy to assemble and look great. Old style Edison bulbs work best. I had spiral lamps, but they were too short to be clearly visible. Those are Edison bulbs! I also colored the cords and they "disappear" in the wall. So many cool things to do with it. I am very happy with them!
