I have had this since July 2016 and unfortunately my search for the perfect keyboard continues. I bought this to replace a Corsair K70 RGB keyboard that was having all sorts of LED and quality issues and Corsair's legendary poor customer service. To be honest this keyboard was expensive and had terrible quality control issues. After reading many reviews, I settled on the Das Keyboard 4 Professional with Cherry Brown switches. Reviews were solid and people said the quality was great. I wasn't too happy with the price but I hoped the quality would speak for itself. First impressions were positive - it looked good and I enjoyed typing even with the same switches compared to the Corsair. However, the quality wasn't perfect - the keyboard warped slightly when using the magnetic lift stand (not a brilliant design choice anyway, in my opinion) - so it wobbled slightly on a flat, hard surface. Googling revealed this to be a common problem and the recommended solutions involved direct keyboard movements! Not something I wanted to try and I fixed it by using one of those extra large mouse pads that cover the desk - the softer base compensates for warping. He shouldn't have this problem, but period. Then, after about a month of use, I noticed the white letters disappeared. Google again shows this as an FAQ on the DAS website (i.e. a known issue). Apparently they can't disappear as they are etched and just need to be rubbed with alcohol. I've done this a few times over the last year and they certainly don't look nearly as good as they should. The lack of a backlight is a bigger personal issue for me than I thought. I don't mind fancy RGB, but I'd like to have a backlight. It's not DAS's fault as it's not advertised as such, but it's in the same price range as the competition that offer backlit keyboards and it's a shame not to have it in a darker room. Now for the biggest problem I've encountered. The keyboard is having connection problems. For example, when you restart your computer, the keyboard is either recognized after a period of time (which prevents you from logging into Windows with a keycode) or not recognized at all. Either a full shutdown or cable removal/reconnection is required. A quick google shows I'm not the only one with these issues, and I'm not buying a just unplug-and-plug solution for a keyboard in this price range. Connectivity issues are exacerbated if you have USB devices plugged into the keyboard's USB ports - this only seems to confuse the keyboard/windows and often results in me not getting a registered working keyboard until I plug them all into the keyboard's USB ports Disconnect any peripherals attached to the keyboard. keyboard and disconnect/reconnect the keyboard itself. It gets to a point where it becomes a real problem when I have to restart my computer. Not only that, the USB disconnect sound in Windows started appearing about 2 months ago. I couldn't figure out what it was, so I downloaded "usbdeview" and actually watched the keyboard disconnect and reconnect multiple times. The strange thing is that in this case it can still be used, but the audio and USB are registered as disabled, which is very annoying. This keyboard contains a design flaw. I'm not the only one having issues as I've seen others with the issue when trying to figure out what was going on. Connectivity issues can manifest themselves as either the keyboard not being recognized or a key being repeatedly pressed lately (any key doesn't seem to matter) after the disconnect sound. Disconnecting/connecting fixes this, but it's pretty ridiculous. I installed the latest drivers and nothing I've done seems to fix this issue. I don't think I have a bad copy either. Windows and DAS don't seem to play well together. In short, like Corsair, I don't think the quality is up to par. Connection issues are frustrating, I regret buying a non-backlit keyboard, and the warping itself is unacceptable. For the price I'm shocked. A year has passed and I'm starting to look for alternatives, but unfortunately I'm having trouble finding them. I would not recommend this keyboard.
