Got this mattress topper a few years ago. Never had a major accident so I didn't write a review. Finally I was curious to see how well it would work. When I poured about a couple tablespoons of water on it and felt the mattress underneath, it was dry. When I poured about 3/4 cup of water on it, I actually felt some moisture on the mattress. Liquid will stick to the topper - so the topper will absorb most of it but if left in contact with the mattress for any length of time it will wet the mattress. So I guess if you just want to use it for stain protection or light ones unfortunate cases (e.g. l leaks through diapers), that works quite well. But if you want to protect it from accidental ingestion of urine or water leakage by a pregnant woman, it probably won't be enough. If you remove it right away you might be able to reduce the damage a bit. I really like that it doesn't make any noise or crunch and I forget it's there. I washed it and had no problems.
