If you've installed a light before then this shouldn't cause you much trouble, but if you're a beginner ignore the instructions, they're rubbish. You cannot connect the cables (listed as step 2) until you have assembled the hood, lower arm, fascia, and sockets (listed as step 3) and fully routed the wiring. I also suggest attaching the nipple for the glass lampshade and checking that it is positioned correctly so the nut is tight (but postpone installing the lamps and glass until the rest of the fixture is connected and secured to the ceiling) . Judging by the crap guide, this is a pretty good light. It is securely packed in a foam insert in a glass box in a cardboard sleeve. I noticed mine was a little out of round when I attached the glass, but it fitted without too much trouble.
