Not much to say about the cup holder. I will say that the construction is good and the plastic is thick enough to do its job as intended. This particular size is for standard beverage cans and bottles. However, I would like to emphasize the DIAMETER OF THE HOLE. Unfortunately, I settled on a 2 3/4" hole saw, which several previous customers have stated allows for a good fit. Well, if you're using these mugs in a car with thin stock, you can probably use this mug holder with you Install a 2 3/4 hole saw. They will not fit in 3/4" pine with the suggested 2 3/4 hole saw. I ended up having to use a rotary wood rasp to enlarge the hole just enough to fit the cups For thick materials I would suggest a 2 7/8 hole saw and the Red Hound coaster should fit fine with no additional routing.
