Update: After about 4 hours of snow on snow the jacket got wet from the water. The claim that these jackets are waterproof is a little misleading, and when I delved a little deeper into the Striker Ice website, I came across their explanation. The bottom line is that these jackets are not waterproof by definition. You are on point. The water resistance is 1/5 of the Gortex rating. They also claim the zippers are waterproof, but there was actually water in the pockets. A jacket in this price range should offer better protection for me, but maybe I'm just asking too much. I love this jacket. I haven't had a chance to really test it and I mostly use the liner or shell. The liner is good for mid 40's for general use. I've only worn the shell in 27 degrees and while I could feel a bit of that in the sleeves, my main area stayed comfortable in just a t-shirt. My biggest gripe with the 4XL is that the sleeves are short when my arms are outstretched. Maybe it's on purpose. I am not using this jacket for its intended purpose (ice fishing) so there could be a reason. I have a long torso and this is one of the few jackets that fits me. Another thing I would like to see is that this jacket is made in the USA and not China. I was expecting to pay $320 for an American made jacket but not for a Chinese made jacket.
