The bowl is big enough to hold a decent strand of my hair at a time. I turn the blow dryer on low and tilt my head to let my hair fall into the bowl. Then I hold it for about 30 seconds. Then I move on to the next section. Curls will become more defined if you do it this way instead of moving them around your head since the movement will break up the curl as it dries. It's important to make sure you have a hair dryer with a hole small enough to put it on, and there aren't too many that will.
