I don't think you will find anything better

I have been feeding Blue Buffalo almost exclusively for about eight years now and I am very satisfied. Before the switch to blue, one of my then 12 year old cats lost her fur to the point where she was hairless almost everywhere she went due to constant licking and chewing. She looked like she had mange, but I don't think cats get mange. I took her to a few vets. One claimed she was too sensitive to fleas, although we found no fleas. It didn't make sense to me as I looked closely at them and knew that if one cat in five had fleas, they would all have fleas. Another vet put her on steroids which seemed to help some aside from changing her personality and I didn't want to leave her on it for the rest of her life. Then someone mentioned food allergies, specifically to corn, soy, and wheat. Not knowing anything better, I fed Science Diet, which was recommended to me by a vet. I was looking for something without corn, soy and wheat. First I tried some other premium food and her hair started to grow back. I've tried various premium products and have always made sure they don't contain corn, soy or wheat. Some of my cats liked it more than others, but I couldn't find anything that all my cats liked. As I learned more about cat food, I started looking at what was in that food and what wasn't. When I stumbled across Blue Buffalo, the idea of the Source of Life Bits made sense to me. We started giving Blue to our cats and they all loved it. My wife happened upon a Blue representative at Petco, and she and I worked for Blue for several years, both in Maine and North Carolina. It was my pleasure to present a product that I was completely convinced of. I no longer work for Blue, but I continue to feed my cats Blue Buffalo. The only food they eat is made by Blue Buffalo, and about fifty percent of their canned food is also made by Blue. Three of my cats are now twenty-one years old and the fourth is ten years old. The fifth died of cancer when she was just a few months before she was twenty-four. Given the age of my three older cats, I'm a little more concerned about their hydration than I used to be, so I feed them more canned food than when they were younger. They like variety in their cans, so I mix in some other premium cans whose ingredients I approve of. But even with canned food, all of my cats love the Blue Buffalo selection, and at least one of my cats will turn their backs on just about every other brand I've tried, with the exception of Petco's premium own-brand Soulistic, which has Good Ingredients, and all my cats love it. I rarely feed her any pellets other than Blue. Although I rotate between the Blue Buffalo sets from time to time, my cats never tire of Blue Buffalo and I don't want to miss the good results I've seen with it. All three of my twenty-one year old cats are healthy and active. Vets who have never seen them always assume they are between a third and a quarter of their actual age. One of them has arthritis but you'll never know until she takes her supplement - another reason to give them canned food every day as I can hide the supplement in the canned food. Otherwise they have no problems. They play, fight and climb. Of course, as cats, they also sleep a lot. Their coat is beautiful, even for someone who was once bald. Here's another big plus I wasn't allowed to talk about while representing Blue Buffalo. Although my cats are allowed to go outside if they want (they don't play outside in Maine), I haven't had a flea problem since I've been feeding them Blue Buffalo. This was even true in the summer when neighbors complained about fleas. When they're out in the summer I take sensible precautions and brush them often, especially when I see one of them itchy, but I haven't seen more than three fleas in eight years. My cats are also not treated with poisons. Blue Buffalo is not a flea repellent, but I believe a good diet contributes to a cat's natural defenses. One thing that worries many people when choosing Blue Buffalo or any other premium cat food brand is the price. Yes, you pay more per pound for Blue Buffalo than private label. However, if you look further, you will see cost savings. Cats don't digest corn, soy, or wheat very well. When you feed cats cheaper food (and even some of the more expensive brands) that's mostly made up of substances they can't digest, most of what you pay for ends up in the litter box. I can assure you my litter boxes don't fill up as quickly now as they did when I fed my Science Diet cats, and what's in them doesn't smell as bad. Last time I checked, Science Diet was even more expensive than Blue Buffalo. Whatever you feed your cats, if the primary ingredients are corn, soy, wheat, or anything other than meat, poultry, or fish, you may think you are litter box food, so add the extra cost. Cat litter. I don't know how many people I've met who talked about their cats half my age. Many people end up paying hefty vet bills for health issues that might not be necessary if they followed a healthier diet. With three twenty one year old cats and one ten year old, my cats rarely go to the vet and only for routine check ups. Even someone with arthritis is treated successfully with Cosequin, an over-the-counter supplement that I purchase here on Revain.com. I won't go so far as to say that Blue Buffalo is the only cat food you should be feeding your cat. . There are several other good options in canned food, some of which I buy as treats for those of my cats who like them. There are other dry cat foods that use real meat as the first ingredient and leave out corn, soy, and wheat. My cats prefer the color blue and I think there is something to be said for the bits of life source that are only found in blue. That's my opinion and I stand by it.
