Review on 🎧 Sennheiser IE 800 S: Premium Audiophile Reference In-Ear Headphones - XWB Transducers, D2CA Technology, Sound Isolation, Detachable Cable, Balanced Cables, 2-Year Warranty (Black) by Jonathan Brendemuehl

Revainrating 5 out of 5

All three aspects of sound in one (low, mid, high)

I received it and already hit the box which I opened to discover another box inside which feels great. To open a box that was in a box, simply slide the top off until the bottom falls out. Inside is a 3.5mm unbalanced cable, a 4.4mm balanced cable, and a 2.5mm balanced cable. Also includes instructions, shirt clip, microfiber cloth, leather carrying case that smells like real leather and 6 pairs of ear tips (silicone S/M/L and foam Comply S/M/L). These are proprietary ear tips that snap into place as soon as you place them on the headphones, meaning you can't use standard ear tips, just the ones that came with the box. The medium to large sized works for me and I ended up using the large silicone ones because they feel better and the large ones don't need to be pressed in tightly. Now for the sound. The bass isn't typical bass, it's deep and not "mushy" and "rich" like the bass in your typical headphones, but more "meaty". It's weird bass that you can swear you can almost feel in your chest when you turn on your audio player's bass setting. The vocals are clean and sound good, so it's obvious that the bass didn't affect that part of the audio spectrum. maximum values can be achieved. sometimes "shrill" depending on whether you've set your audio player to boost those frequencies. Playing audio regardless of the audio settings produces a sound that highlights every aspect of the song and is crystal clear. When you use an audio player (like JetAudio which I use for the good range of sound effects as well as the full EQ) and boost certain frequencies and use the bass boosting sound effects as well as the crystallizer, they almost overwhelm your senses! The bass rumbles and gets really strong and deep, but it's clean and not even muddy, the mids are unaffected by the bass, and the highs (like cymbals) just "pop" through. It's a bit of an odd feeling, but not uncomfortable at all. They are suitable for any genre, from metal to rock, from techno to classical and so on. Overall this was a good purchase and shipped from the US to Europe in 10 days. .
