Review on ๐ŸŽฎ EEEKit PS2 to HDMI Converter Adapter with Audio Output Cable for Sony PlayStation 2 - Enhance HDTV and HDMI Monitor Gaming Experience by Phillip Samuel

This can work very well, but you need to know what you're doing

This makes PS2 games look decent to great depending on what TV you're using. It is VERY high level dependent. It only works in the standard color space. So if your PS2 is internally set to RGB you will not be able to see anything until you connect Component/Composite/S-Video to your PS2 and use a different TV input to change this internal PS2. Set from RGB to YPbPr/YCbCr, then go back to using this adapter over HDMI and change the TV input. Where you will find lower quality is in games that are natively lower resolution. On old TVs with not very good scaling or pictures are not played at all! For example, almost all the games are from the Mega Man X collection. You can get to the main menu where you select one of the 7 available titles, but as soon as you enter the game you see black and cannot recover. It doesn't matter if you put it on an old TV or a new TV. This is due to internal limitations of the adapter. Pictures on TVs with poor upscaling look OK, but not as you remember them. Unless you have a TV that handles aspect ratio well, your picture will be slightly out of proportion, which is driving me nuts. On a more modern TV, the picture may look just as good or even better than you remember. My old TV is a 2009 Panasonic VIERA 1080p 42" Plasma 1080p (with only moderate use) and my current TV is a 50" TCL 4 Series 4K TV with HDR10 that scales reasonably well. With older TVs, you probably don't need to fiddle with the color scheme. On newer TVs, just set the color space to standard/limited/whatever it's called on your model. This setting should be the default on most models, but I don't think it was the default on my TCL. I had to change it from Native to Auto using the phone app to get the default color range of 15-235. I have an HDMI switch for each HDMI input on my TCL. One for RGB/high color gamut devices and one for standard gamut devices (which should also work on all HDR devices). You must keep these separate and not mix color modes on the same input!
