Review on Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Cherry MX Speed Silver - Black (CH-9127414-NA) by Ryan Fuhrer

premium price. Bad quality control.

Mechanical keyboard with per key RGB lighting, dedicated media controls, dedicated macro keys, dual keycaps, 10 keys, bohemian gaming style and MX blues. This is my unicorn. I cannot adequately express my disappointment. My first purchase had a USB port that only worked intermittently. There is also a very loud metallic ringing. This isn't an issue with either switches or keycaps, as Corsair Support suggests. I have sent for a replacement. Even worse is the volume wheel on the spare sticks and the ping. I was even okay with the LEDs being dimmer than my current K95, but those issues are unacceptable at this price point. This isn't the first time I've encountered quality control errors on Corsair keyboards. When RGB Strafe first became available with MX Blues, I jumped at it. I went through 3 or 4 boards, all with a few buttons that were completely unusable. Soft spacebar that didn't rebound, other keys with the same behavior. Instead I just went with MX Browns and finally got a board that works properly. Also my current K95 Platinum with brown MXs doesn't suit me 100%. The volume wheel has been off since day one. Rolls to a point and then "pops" as if catching on something. I babysit my electronics so it's not like I broke them over time. At least all keys work and there is no ping when I type. I think I just finished Corsair peripherals. When the time comes when I need to replace this board, I'll just grab something else. Maybe more. At a keyboard price of $200, I expect excellence that this product does NOT. The funny thing is I would pay even more for this perfection if someone built it.
