I put one shelf above the kitchen sink for soap/sponge/etc. storage and the other one above my bathroom sink. They stick on and i didn't wait any period of time before putting stuff on them - both stuck without issue. I liked them so much I bought 4 more shelves, 2 for each shower. Will they rust? Don't know, haven't had them long enough. The ones in the kitchen and above my bathroom sink are not exposed to water, the shower ones are located out of direct spray but I know they'll get exposure. They provided 3 sticky backings for 2 shelves incase you goon it up putting it one (don't stick it on upside down). I am pleased with this purchase and the price point.*Update - I know this is gross, but I just took these down to clean them after 16 months hanging in the shower. As others have posted, they said there was rust on the metal and they hated the product as a result. I assumed this would happen (had many hanging shower caddies that deteriorated over the years), but I thought I'd try giving them a clean to see what happened. Guess what, all that gook wiped off - no rust, just mildew. I figured I'd post this because that's a pretty remarkable performance in my book. Pictures before and after speak for themselves. All I used was some Fantastik and a soft sponge with dish soap to clean.
