Review on 🚿 Organize Your Shower with OXO Good Grips Press-Sure Corner Shower Caddy by Donald Phillips

Revainrating 3 out of 5

GOOD IDEA AND CONCEPT BUT NOT ENOUGH - YET CAN FIND THE BEST ALTERNATIVE

In principle and design we love these shelves. We would have given it a higher rating if it weren't for the two main issues described below. We bought three of these units to replace a shelving unit. Pros: These shelves are easy to clean, drain well, and are a great size. CONS: Chromed metal rod and hanger hooks are already rusting where embedded in plastic - after 6 months of use. Suction cups are useless except on smooth, hard wallboard or wide tiles, and will NOT work on typical tile walls if the grout is smaller than the suction cups (about 10 inches from the corner - and we have a near-perfect flat tile array). ). However, if the shopper is so inclined, there is a workaround that makes these shelves a great alternative to bar shelves. Self-tapping screws for each shelf purchased and/or superglue, painter's or painter's tape, and GE Silicon II clear caulk (anything available from Lowes or Home Depot) before attempting installation - press and glue the pusher handle (which depresses the suction cups) against the shelf bodies. Make sure the handle is fully compressed. Turn around. Apply superglue to all edges of the handle slide mechanism and let it dry overnight, or purchase 3/8" stainless steel screws (from Lowes or Home Depot), drill a pilot hole, and thread the screw through the handle guide into the case . /frame of the shelf, in a position that does not pass through the top of the shelf. This ensures that the pull-out handle remains permanently compressed. CLEAN THE WALL the shelves are attached to. allow to dry THOROUGHLY . Let dry. Find and mark where you want to place the shelves and draw a straight line from the corner on both vertical walls. Suction cup edges that come in contact with the wall. Gently slide the shelf into place, making sure to align with the horizontal lines. While one person holds the shelf, the other stretches several strips of tape from all corners of the shelf to the wall; through drainage holes on the surface of the shelf; anything to hold the shelf in place. Check several times that it hasn't moved and is fully pressed against the wall. Let it dry for a full day before removing all tape and loading shelves. After the tape is removed and the silicone is dry, use a spatula and/or razor blade to gently scrape off the excess silicone around the grip. I'm still worried about the rust starting, but we'll see how long it doesn't break down and cause problems. They should have used stainless steel instead of chrome. We also love the shelves for their size and ease of cleaning.
