Ha! Durability/comfort to hold/strength. All of this is meaningless if you can't see the screen. It covers the light sensor, so when you put the cover on, the sensor closes, the iPad thinks it's night and dims the screen to make it as dark as possible. Yes, you can disable auto dimming or cut this part off the case. Or the manufacturer can design a case that doesn't block the ambient light sensor.
