I really wanted to love this printer, but I learned to hate it.

Benefits; The printer is very fast for an inkjet printer. Print quality is excellent for text and good for many graphics with exceptions (see cons below). The 2-sided printing feature is great for 2-sided printing and can help reduce the total printing time for 2-sided printing. Developed for high performance applications and for medium to high volume applications. Stationary printheads must impose a great deal of wear on the printhead carriage assembly. Good connectivity. I had no trouble setting it up and never dropped the connection when I needed it. The printer has an interesting feature that allows you to send printouts to the email address assigned to the printer, allowing you to print from anywhere you might have an internet connection, even on the other side of the world. depends on the printed graphics. Uniformly toned areas usually have print gaps at regular intervals and are caused by misaligned segments on the head that are slightly shifted and cannot be corrected. The print quality also suffers greatly if printing is not carried out regularly. After not using the printer for several weeks, I was unable to get a good print due to weak areas of density running the full length of the page from top to bottom. The cost of ink I wasted on cleaning cycles is probably what I paid for the printer. This may not be a problem if you use the printer every day. Firmware bugs have haunted me since day one. The printer was throwing random error codes suggesting that restarting the printer might fix this error. The biggest problem is that the printer doesn't shut down gracefully as intended and freezes when trying. It always requires me to unplug it, followed by a message saying it didn't turn off properly. To make matters worse, the printer often makes very loud, harsh noises when it starts up, which suggests internal components are banging against each other. The printer now tells me that the printhead is jammed behind the ink access door and instructs me to clear the jam. Removing the cartridges according to the instructions will open up an area where paper cannot pass and jams will not occur. In fact, since the printhead is not moving, there is no reason for a jam to affect the movement of the printhead. The external paper tray stopped working after about 200 prints through, the paper feed roller just didn't go down far enough to touch the paper. I suspect this happened during one of the high profile crashes I described above, but I don't know how. I installed a full set of XL cartridges at a price higher than the price of the printer. Cartridges are at about 50% after printing 1 to 200 low color pages. The vast majority of ink was wasted in cleaning cycles to get acceptable prints.
