They leak and are not airtight or insect-tight.

I bought these to protect the grains from small critters like sugar ants and the rare but occasional weevil. Unfortunately, they leak at the lid and are therefore worthless to us. I've included a few photos of my "leak test" to illustrate this, but you can just squeeze them together with the pop-up lid closed and you can easily feel the air escaping around the lid. That didn't happen with our old Rubbermaid 13 Cup "servin' saver" cereal container. This container closes tightly to this day. But not these: they come back.
