Good headset for the price

My old headset was on its last legs and needed to be replaced. My criteria were actual microphone and headphone jacks and no active audio circuitry. I'm also about the style of the ear cups. When I saw that this was listed for $15 + free shipping and good enough reviews, I thought it was worth the risk. Pros: It sits comfortably on my head without pinching. I have a relatively large head so this may not be suitable for those with small heads. It is relatively light, so there is no sign of fatigue due to its weight. In my opinion it sounds decent, without any background noise. I have some hearing problems and I'm not really interested in "studio sound". The microphone is quite sensitive and seems to pick up background noise quite well. The cord is long enough, but not fun despite not being able to walk to the other end of the room. The cable is encased in nylon braid to help prevent nicks. It seems that reducing stress will be effective in the long run. The volume knob has enough resistance that it shouldn't change settings just by touching the shirt (something with the old one I used to do all the time that needed a piece of tape to stop). The location of this control is good, roughly level with the keyboard, making it easy to reach when needed. Cons: The plastic it's made of looks a bit flimsy. Because the mic is a rigid stem made of the same plastic, it's unlikely to survive a fall without damaging or breaking the mic boom. A flexible microphone arm would be much better. Because it's a rigid mic stand, there's no adjustment to bring it closer to your mouth. They're big and chunky and would be cumbersome to carry around on the back of a laptop or similar. I got them for desktop, so I didn't care. My kit did not include the Y audio adapter shown in the photo, which isn't a problem for me as I already have several should I need one. they're not in the volume/mute controls) seems silly, but since it's optional I can't complain. However, I would rather invest the costs in a flexible microphone arm. All in all a good value headset that should hold up well with proper care. It would be hard to go wrong, but if your budget allows for something better, there are probably better options.
