I bought these because the cat can't get out of the damn closets and they seem to work as intended, albeit not very well. I seriously doubt they will be strong enough to protect a child from anything. I mean, they work about 50% of the time as long as they don't let the cat in the closets, but if you're forgetful like me, it doesn't take long to completely ruin a clip or whatever you want to call it . the first time you forget to unlock the cabinet and once the clamp is forced open it doesn't engage tight enough to keep it locked. + For the glue they use for the clips I couldn't remove the broken ones without them taking some of the cabinets with them.
