Mine just died after 8 years of very reliable service. And yes, my inattention to camera protection was probably the main reason. I often just put the camera in my jeans pocket without a protective cover. I live in the Southern California desert where there are a lot of fine sand particles in the air. I mainly used the video function and with that I have many treasured memories including the last 6 months of my 101 year old grandmother who remained quite witty to the end. Definitely worth the $150 I paid for them. Backup batteries were available online at a good price. and the ever cheaper Class 10 SD cards were a good deal too. I will miss this camera!
