That's not gold, that's brass.
(Gold) Generally a good product. In fact, "gold" is brass. I know this for sure because it smells just like my trumpet when I play it. The gold is tarnished as if oxidized or rusted. It works if you shave, but it's bad for quality. Do not throw away the cover. Honestly, it looked like a cheap fake made in China. I'm Asian, by the way, so I know.
