I've read complaints that this programmer doesn't work for some people. I bought 2 of these in the last month and they had different silkscreens on the side showing which signals were on which pins. Both programmers are recognized by ST Micro's ST-Link utility and both had no problems updating their firmware to the latest version from ST Micro. At first I thought the silkscreen was wrong or that the factory loaded firmware was mapping the signals to different pins. When the cable I made for the first programmer didn't work with the second programmer I bought, I decided to open up the blocks and see why. The second programmer I bought has an older version of the board (D vs E) and conveniently has the pin names printed on the board. In both cases, the PCB silkscreen was printed onto the outer case. After making a new cable for the new programmer and using the signal names to map them to my mini-JTAG connector on my board, the second programmer worked as expected. It's a shame they moved the pinout between versions as it definitely creates confusion and sadly dedicated cables for each programmer. Big. As a side note, both use the same processor, and it's not even part of ST Micro, it's CKS32F103C6T6.
