You need to know both the frequency and the location of the tower

February 17 update: I have changed the whip antenna to a panel antenna. This allowed me to mount the antenna farther and cover more of the house. My choice for this was https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J52RJA2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00 and I also took cable 50: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MLQQW3X/ref= ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00 . These items were important. Worth doing. With LTE Discovery, my dBm is between 88 and 101 - depending on where I walk in my house. No matter what, it's better than the whip antenna included in the kit and way better than no amp at all! This is an easy-to-use cell phone booster. Before you buy it, you need to know the frequency. I used LTE Discovery for this. Nice little program that tells me the LTE frequency/band used in my house. Using DuckDuckGo to locate ATT towers helped me figure out which direction to point the antenna. We recently installed a 6/12 pitch steel roof - we are in snow country. Once the old asphalt roof was replaced with a steel roof. Well, our LTE signal dropped to almost unacceptable levels on one side of our house. By simply testing the antenna, plugging it in as instructed, stepping aside with a yagi and just "swinging" it, my wife's LTE signal went from -119dB on the LTE Explorer to -94dB same instrument. That's a useful signal! No more missed calls, great!
