I have two boys who live outside during the summer months and both have sensitive skin. These hats are my favorite (hands down)! The edge is firm but not so hard as to damage it, the chin strap is adjustable and a clip. If it gets caught it will break rather than suffocating your child, there is an elastic band at the back for a fit but also an adjustment strap.
