Review on πŸš— Nilight 10001S-A 36W LED Light Bar Spot - Off Road Lights for Jeep with 2 Years Warranty by Brian Forbis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Overall: Good product - fairly solid construction

I got this based on all the great reviews (4.5 stars out of 800+ reviews). It seemed solid, judging by the lovely video showing one of them sawed up and still working. So, that's how it has been for me so far. The first one I received was ordered on December 7th, 2016. This review was written on March 20, 2017 For the entire time I had the first, everything was going well. I haven't connected it exactly how I want it yet, but it works fine the way it's connected. I drive quite a lot (about 1500-3000km a month depending on the job) - The road stuff I do gets the car pretty dirty. I wash it regularly to wash away all the dirt. About the last month (that's December to February - let's call it 3 months) I noticed that there is moisture in the first light. You can see it in the first and third photo I uploaded. This moisture is INSIDE the light and I can't get it out. At first I thought it would go away with heat/driving but it was just there. None of the LEDs have failed, but that's still a bit of a concern. Regardless, I got another one on March 10, 2017 (10 days ago of this review). In the second photo you can see the difference between old and new. Some of the differences I noticed are: 1. The new one appears to be a revised or newer model (based on other observations below). The LEDs in the new one look bigger.3. Wires in a new gauge.4. Bolts/nuts are different (see below).5. The new one glows brighter than the old one when it's on. The bolts/nuts used to attach the lights were different. The older model had nuts that fit the bracket so you could tighten 10mm bolts without any other tools - just a socket/wrench. The newer uses smaller nuts and hex bolts. These smaller nuts mean someone can have easier access to remove the light. This can be remedied by purchasing and installing special nuts and bolts. Both lights use hex wrenches to secure the light to the brackets, but the old one uses a larger wrench than the new one. The new key works both for the bracket and for adjusting the light. So now I have to keep two different Allen keys for the headlights. Whether this new revision is better or not, I'll find out in a few months. First, I will again look for moisture inside the lamp. If everything is ok and I remember I will update this review with information in a few months. Based on performance I might get another 'new version' - assuming it's based on design updates - and replace that with moisture in it if I can't find a way to get it out or if it doesn't evaporate. by itself. I hope this information will help people with their purchase. In general this is a good product. The lights are BRIGHT. I don't know the lumens, but it shines brightly. The quality is okay, the assembly is quite solid. Although there is moisture in the old model flashlight, it still works perfectly. Not as bright as new - probably other LEDs and newer ones more. However, price and performance are unbeatable. *EDIT - 2017-06-30* So I won't add any more photos for this. Since then the old light has failed - not quite, but the light is very poor and some LEDs do not light. I opened it up and cleaned it and then reapplied the silicone but that's taking it too far. I've since bought another one, but this time I'll open it up as soon as I receive it and apply silicone. Until they seal the light properly, I advise all buyers to open it up and use liberal amounts of silicone on the left/right side. A section with a glass (plastic) window in front of the LEDs is inserted into the track with a rubber seal (upper/lower light). The window slides out (difficult on the newer model) and the rubber weather strips are difficult to put back into the window. Simply apply silicone directly around the area. If your headlights are set so high that you can't drive them through water, or if you don't wash your car regularly, then you may not have a problem with those headlights. Still, I would recommend them for the price. Just do what needs to be done before using them and you shouldn't have any problems. My second headlight has been working great since I sealed it, even taking it to a pressure washer car wash. Nevertheless 4 stars. *EDIT - 2017-12-19 *I received a replacement for one of my purchases. I am now adding more photos showing the disassembly and proper sealing of the lantern so there is less chance of moisture damage. DISCLAIMER: Do this at your own risk. Take videos, photos or notes along the way so you don't lose anything. This can void the warranty. 1 - Remove the screws from both sides of the lantern. Hex keys are used. 2 - Remove the sides. 3 - Pull out the transparent plastic window. 4 - Remove the rubber buffers. 5 - Pull out the upper and lower metal brackets. 6 - Apply silicone liberally to the underlying areas. Use the small nozzle for narrower/smaller areas. 6aa - This is optional and entirely up to you. You can put something on the pins of the LEDs. 6a - Left and right covers. 6b - Guide on which the stirrups slide. 6c - guide on which the window slides. 7 - Reassemble in the reverse order that you took it apart. When you're done, you should be fine for a long time. Still 4 stars - you just need to know a little how to find out. The best ratio of price and quality! VERY BRIGHT! I think it's been said before - it's more of a spotlight than a spot. just so you know
