Good radio reception but the lithium ion backup battery doesn't hold a charge very long, it will discharge in about 1 week. The charging connector from the wall socket is mentioned in the instructions but is not included in the kit. Manual start takes a long time, so does solar charging, a good 6-8 hours, but it's nothing to do with work, I just step aside when I know it won't rain about once a week. I would keep a good supply of good quality AAA batteries handy as he will eat those too. I would NOT buy again.
