I purchased this card reader along with a 64GB SD card to use as backup storage for important documents, files and other information that is lost naturally , stolen or destroyed can man-made disaster. In the last 3 years I have personally known several such cases - losing all your important documents will cause a lot of problems for most people in the short and long term. scanned documents, photos and books in pdf format, everything from my birth certificate and later important life event documents including photos of family and friends, a short compressed video of the interior/exterior of my home for insurance documentation, a password protected document with all my important passwords (actually an algorithm to create and update each password over time so you don't have to remember those unique passwords, each one gets stronger and more complex), credit cards, driver's licenses, ID cards, tax documents, property records, insurance policies, etc. ). I bought two readers, one on my desk and one kept in a small fireproof container, then I wrapped it in bubble wrap and put it in an old Altoids mint box that I keep in the freezer (you ask why in the freezer, because in most cases this is the only part of the house that survives the "burned down" fire) and for other, less obvious reasons. Files I want to store on the card and reader. Until there is a new microdata storage standard, I expect that in the future you will find ways to read data with this reader. The reader has a plastic body, the latches on the covers fit snugly over the SD connector, and there's also a hinged cover to protect the USB side - there's a small hole I used for a strap to keep it easy to carry or secure. The reader works flawlessly on my Mac and Windows computers and it takes around 10 minutes to download around 32GB of content - I run the copy process and when I'm done I compare file folders to make sure everything was copied correctly - nothing is lost. Data or files have been corrupted. You should be aware that over time the SD card will become less efficient in transferring and storing files, but I believe I will only need bigger SD cards as I continue to give more importance to my digital lifeline and storage solution Add documents and content. I will buy more of these and do the same for my children - I will provide them with a family archive of photos, files, documents and other information to store and protect in the future.
