Wanted to add I was amazed to find these ribbons for my 35 year old printer for my Commodore 128/64. The ribbon came up right away, but when the print started I had a horizontal line at the top and bottom of each row where the print head touched the paper. I found this odd, so I took my 35 year old printhead that I was replacing (the ink was dry), removed the plastic ink protector and compared them. With my old guard, the hole was smaller. I exchanged them and the printer started printing great. Luckily I have some old, dried out ink cartridges with ink protectors (a clear plastic cap covering the tape). Looks like I'll have to keep them with me and switch to new cartridges. Wanted to share in case others are stuck the same way - don't throw away your old cartridges! If you don't have access to old cartridges, you may be able to find some heat-resistant plastic that provides a narrower opening for the ribbon than paper and make your own.
