My trick to avoiding the sluggishness everyone mentions

For the price I paid this laptop couldn't be any better. I applied for a Revain Store Card at the time of purchase, which immediately gave me a $40 credit, which reduced the price even further. pounds) and fast (8th gen i5 and 8GB RAM). As others have said, the only downside is the slow 1TB 5400rpm hard drive. On a related note, I have a trick to get around this if you plan on installing an SSD. Also, I have another tip if you plan on using the included hard drive. Here it is. If you're planning to upgrade to an SSD and already have one in hand, do this to avoid the headache of a slow hard drive: 1. Start your new laptop for the first time.2. DO NOT connect to WiFi during Windows activation.3. Once Windows has fully booted up, install disk cloning software (Macrium Reflect, Acronis, etc.) from the USB drive. You cannot download disk cloning software because you are not connected to WiFi.4. Turn off the laptop, open it and install the SSD drive.5. Turn the laptop back on. Use disk cloning software to clone your hard drive to your SSD.6. Turn off your laptop. At this point, you have a choice. You can either boot into the BIOS to set the new SSD as the default boot drive and leave the old hard drive installed, or you can simply remove the old hard drive to force the laptop to boot from the new SSD.7. Power on your laptop and watch how amazingly fast it boots from a blazing fast SSD! :-)eight. Now you can finally connect to your Wi-Fi network and let Windows download and install all updates and security patches. I recommend this because you don't want Windows trying to download and install hundreds of MBs of updates and patches. when running like a dog slow hard drive for 1 TB. It would take a very, very long time. And the slow hard drive will charge at 100% for hours or days while trying to download and install all those Windows updates. As other people have said, during this time the laptop freezes and becomes unresponsive. But if you upgrade to an SSD BEFORE the laptop downloads and installs Windows updates, a fast SSD makes the process MUCH FASTER. And my advice for those who don't plan to install an SSD drive and just keep using the included 1TB hard drive: 1. After the laptop starts for the first time, activate Windows and connect to WiFi.2. Then leave the laptop on for a day or two and don't try to use it. Why? Because people say it can take up to 2 days to download and install all windows updates. Trying to use it at this time when disk usage is set to 100% will lead to frustration.3. Then finally after all Windows updates are downloaded and installed, restart the laptop and use it as you like. The laptop should now run fairly quickly after initial slowness due to updates. Enjoy!
