Review on VELEZ 1022428 Genuine Leather Backpack by Keith Mertz

This is a great slim backpack for your laptop, power cord, external mouse, notepad and a few files. If you want to carry more, this bag probably isn't for you. The description says it fits a 14 inch laptop and that's what it's designed for. The description says it's 17 inches tall so I took a chance. Well, 17 inches if you measure to the top of the handle :-) The computer bay is just over 15 inches, so a Dell 15.6 inch laptop is shrinking tight. The strap to hold the laptop in place doesn't extend as far as a 15.6 inch laptop, but it's snug enough that it doesn't need to be, the top flap keeps it in place. A thin water bottle with the diameter of a soda can fits in the side pockets (see photo). The shoulder straps are curved and can be carried comfortably on one shoulder without constantly slipping off. A nice design feature is that depending on the load, it usually stands up on its own without leaning against anything. The leather is thick enough to last for years but not so thick that it's tough. and hard. This is what I would describe as raw tanned and has no hard surface other than accent bands and is soft and stretchy. I applied a few coats of Honey Skin Conditioner to it, which darkened it a bit and smoothed out the texture. After just over a month of use, it's already looking broken and taking on character. Great bag if you don't have to lug around a lot.
