This is the first light meter I have used. The readings are in lux, but I assumed they also converted to footcandles or help me find exposure settings for photography. However, I don't see a way to simply do this. The device itself looks as advertised. You can remove the measuring head from the housing by sliding it to the side. It is attached to the body with a cable. You can compare how bright different areas are to each other if that helps. I'm just disappointed that it's no longer useful for photography since that's what I bought it for. I didn't press the buttons fast enough. To switch from LUX to FC, press the mode button and then immediately press the REL/UP button. You will see the change from LUX to FC at the top of the screen. Then if you want to change the temperature display from Celsius to Fahrenheit, immediately press the Mode button again and then the REL/UP button. These changes are reset each time the meter is turned off.
