I didn't buy these bags to protect luggage or clothing. I bought these to cover the patio chairs to protect their cushions from rain and didn't have to detach the cushions every time rain was expected. I knitted all of my patio chair cushions today and covered four of them with these plastic bags - the ones with the folds that keep out the rain even if you wipe them dry. Due to the frequent, sometimes quite strong wind, I secured the pockets with elastic cords. (The ties that come with the bags are fine if used for other purposes, but they're useless for my purposes.) The good news for me is that each bag is really big enough to hold an entire to cover the chair. . They seem strong and I assume they are long lasting; but I haven't had a chance to prove it yet.
