You may listen to practically all of the database on your computer for free by subscribing to music on iTunes for just a few cents per month (rare copies do not allow you to listen to yourself completely, you have to buy it). I mistakenly believed that after purchasing a player, I could actually transfer all of this music so that I could listen to it, but it turned out that you can only record the one that you have already paid for. I don't know if it's possible to upload some other tracks to the player that aren't from iTunes, but I don't care because I occasionally buy albums and let the player gradually fill up.
