These shorts are cut for men. The leg opening is not wide so the fabric doesn't sway in the water. The waist sits low on the pelvic bone. I took one size larger than usual to be more comfortable. I really like the length because it's longer than regular women's shorts but not as long as men's briefs. It gives protection and modesty without making my legs stout. The quick-drying, lightweight material is easy to care for and easy to transport. No wonder surfers live in these types of shorts.
