I've been looking for a new water bottle for 2 years. I tried different brands, plastic and metal bottles, plastic bottles, bottles with straw caps, bottles with different caps. Let's look at the main problems: 1) Tightness is not a problem. When filling, make sure to leave a gap at the neck of the bottle so that the cap fits snugly. If the bottle has been overfilled, water will spurt out when the cap is inserted and screwed on. After that, however, NO LEAK. 2) Temperature Control - I brought a stopwatch (or use the clock app on my phone, for you young people) but I'm guessing my cold tap water stays cold for about 6-8 hours. . Haven't tried the ice water yet but was incredibly pleased that the cold tap held its temperature. 3) Dirt and detergent, remember to backwash. In this case, a thorough cleaning is required at most once a week. It could take longer, but I don't want to bother germ phobias with how long it takes me between bottle cleanings. Anyway, yes it is a hand wash bottle. Buy some brushes and get to work. It's easy to clean. 4) Durability - I have yet to drop it over four (4) feet. I did notice that the graphic design picked up a few tiny scraps at the bottom of the bottle, but that will be ok as this is the area that experiences the most friction (I usually have bottles on rough or concrete surfaces). This dissatisfaction is not so much with this bottle, my dear, as with my disappointment in understanding the technology of tightness combined with straw caps. I was distracted.
