Rugged Computers and Accessories

The typing feel is about the same as the Sidekick 4G - if you like the feel of this keyboard I'd recommend it. I think some people don't like the feel of this keyboard either because you can expect to move your thumbs and type fast like on some older keyboard phones like Blackberry or Nokia N900 phones, but instead the keys here need to be pressed a little harder will be to slow you down fingers. Now I will explain why this device has 5 stars: It is very good for its device type, its features and Bluetooth capabilities. I essentially use it to remotely control an additional Android phone that's on the other side of my desk. For 6 months I've been using this to: 1. turn on the phone, 2. unlock the screen - press the left mouse button from below and drag up with the touchpad - 3. check the weather. That works every time. In fact, at some point I was surprised when I wasn't at home for two weeks and went back to doing everything according to routine! When charging is required, you will know via the LED indicator. When using the touchpad, the entire keyboard lights up and it is very convenient to find the ESC key that turns off the screen on an Android device. The backlight always works. Battery life, as you can see from my use case, is excellent; If you're used to other rechargeable wireless peripherals like mice and headphones, you'll really appreciate how infrequently you have to charge them. It should reconnect if you leave it alone for 5 minutes, but at this price point, who wouldn't expect that? The battery is one of its advantages, it's a pleasure. As for the touchpad - it has a learning curve which, once you get used to it, makes the device excellent too. At first I wanted to use it as a laptop touchpad, typing and performing gestures with two fingers - and this device makes that possible. Then, noticing that these things are slow, I switched to using my thumb instead - and the position on these devices also allows for that and actually makes it the easiest. The touchpad's coating isn't great for gliding your finger over, but it's *durable*, meaning you can use your fingernail or thumbnail to help glide and it always works. The plastic around the entire device feels premium. The back (or bottom) has a textured grip patch that's subtle but works. The keys on the keyboard are solid but also have a rubberized finish and they don't flex or wobble at all, it feels very solid. The rest of the device body is made of plastic with a rubberized finish. In general, the build quality makes it comfortable to hold. Finally, I should mention that every key you would expect on a PC keyboard is there. It is good to know that you can always use this product as a backup input device. The Rii Mini i8+ is a quality product that can be described as "works as advertised", although it probably goes beyond that description. I'm very glad Amazon is selling it.
