Review on Manfrotto Replacement Hexagonal Release Thread by Darin Merriwether

Better than the original plate

Unlike many on here, I have never lost my original Manfrotto quick release plate. Rather, it became unusable because its cork gasket had become rock hard with age, no longer allowing enough compression to prevent the mounted chamber from rotating freely. This part uses a rubber gasket instead of a cork. It's holding up very well and I expect it to last longer. The metal body perfectly matches the original and attaches to the tripod head without grumbling or wobbling. I would like someone to sell the rubber seal separately; my old plate would be a useful spare. But sometimes I can get a sheet of rubber from a craft store and try to cut it myself. In any case, this is a quality piece that will make your old tripod head usable again.
