Although it smells like essential oils, I wouldn't use it or any other scent on a small newborn. BUT, for older children and toddlers or for sick people with sensitive skin, I think this is a good wash. It has a fairly strong but pleasant natural lavender scent. After rinsing, it smells a little, but not much. When I get close to someone who has used it after a bath I can smell it. It also perfumes the hair. It's very gentle on the skin. I've washed my face with it multiple times including my eyes and tried to wash off the mascara and it didn't sting my eyes. Forms fluffy foam. It doesn't tighten the skin at all, rather moisturizes, but I don't like it as a shampoo. It tangles my fine baby hair and does NOTHING for my hair. This left him dry, confused, and flying all over the place. This may be normal for babies or children with very short hair, but if the hair is any length or thick and has ever become tangled, I would avoid it.
