Review on Camera Fujifilm XF10, champagne gold by Ada Szepelska ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent quality, absolutely not expected for such a price.

Briefly about myself: spot focus, aperture priority or full manual mode, raw, city, architecture, reportage; I don’t even want to know anything about tracking tricks, the number of focus areas and shooting video. So don't look for that in this review. It started with the fact that I suddenly wanted to buy an extremely portable (conditional) alternative to my main Nikon Df + Sigma 35 1,4 art kit. Well, something inexpensive to put in the side pocket of your jacket in winter when you just want to take a walk, but just in case you have a camera at hand. Considering that the kit mentioned above set quite a high bar for personal requirements for final quality, I was quite disappointed with the existing offers, especially the price (high) and the quality level (low) of modern system camera optics on the market. Something more or less good and compact lies in the segment of 70 thousand and above. For an impulsive purchase for "just because" it somehow turned out a little expensive. Therefore, I decided to look at a very cheap segment, but so that the quality was at least somewhat acceptable. And then everything converged on the XF10. I took it and bought it. Now to the obvious and not so obvious nuances: At first, I was unrealistically disappointed with the quality of the optics, in particular the level of chromatic aberrations. Yes, and in general it was washing around the edges. As it turned out, not all raw converters are equally useful. After studying the materiel, I discovered that Fuji cameras save data for correcting aberrations and distortions in exif, but not all converters use them, preferring to stupidly sharpen and extinguish color at contrast transitions. As a result, after conducting comparative testing, I came to the conclusion that Silkypix uses this data most efficiently and produces the most crystal-clear picture. Now you can put 5. In general, I can already say that I got exactly what I wanted. I will add more information in a comment to this post. And then I want to say a lot, but the size is limited.

Pros
  • - Excellent compactness and at the same time good ergonomics for this size - Picture quality* (see comments) - Low sensor noise at high ISOs, and the grain, when noticeable, looks quite nice - High degree of functional customization - Snapshot mode - Good Jpeg "out of the box" for domestic use (and what else can be used for a camera from this segment?) - Charging via micro-USB
Cons
  • - Very strong lens chromatic aberration* (see comments) - Not the longest running time - No hot shoe (sync contact) - Terrible acceleration curve of manual focus (well, why so ?!) - Inability to set custom settings for Snapshot mode - Build quality is average (not bad, but not great)
