Review on πŸŽ’ Water-Resistant Lightweight Weekender Backpack by Tomtoc by Donna Maupin

Attention to detail and excellent value for money

I know Tomtoc mainly as a brand that makes cases for portable devices - iPad, Switch etc. I have one of their cases for Switch and it seemed to me always to be very well designed and durable. When I saw that they are now making a holdall I thought it was definitely worth a try. Luckily, they lived up to their reputation with this bag.** Look and Feel Looks. It really cleverly divides the difference between a high-tech laptop bag and a holdall. The fabric feels very premium and durable, and all zips are woven into heavy-duty YKK zips that are buttery soft and smooth to the touch when working. All external zips are hidden under a fold in the material so the bag looks neat and the zips won't wear out with normal use.** I think that's for sure. I loaded it up with a pair of boots, 2 pairs of jeans, 2 oversized sweaters, tank tops, underwear, socks etc - pretty much everything you need for a weekend getaway - and all arrived safely. Laptop and Device Storage is equally well designed. The laptop memory is extra large, big enough for a 17 inch laptop. I could actually fit my 13 inch laptop in the dedicated tablet compartment! There's also an integrated zippered pocket for cords and other tech items. When not in use, it folds up to take up minimal closet space. The bag actually has a flap built in that you fold to one side to give the bag a rigid structure when in use, and then fold it the other way so it can be shrunk when not in use. It's a pretty well thought out design and works well.** DURABILITY **Durability is my concern with this product. The product specs do not state what material or fabric cavity is used, or any other details that would help me compare it to other bags. All this indicates that the fabric is made from recycled materials. The fabric seems nice to me, but I won't know for sure how it will hold up until I use it more extensively. **COMFORT** I was really surprised at how comfortable it was to wear this as a backpack once fully loaded! There's a lot of padding built into the backpack's straps and the surface that slides down your back, and it's all covered in mesh, which should also keep you cool. There are handles on the short and long sides, so you can carry it in any position. The bag weighs only 2.7 pounds when empty, which I think is pretty damn good for a 40 liter duffel bag + laptop compartment. **SUMMARY** Really looking forward to traveling with this bag! It offers a great balance of travel-friendly and technical features in an attractive package. Backpack straps are comfortable and I think they're probably a great alternative to rolling luggage for short trips, or as a carry-on for rolling luggage for a longer trip. For the price, this seems like great value.
