My NB weighs about 8 pounds. Seems to be working for now. At the moment the size is still big but gives it room to grow. With extra room and stretchy fabric, it has room to move your arms. However if your child wants a snug fit I'm not sure this will work, or maybe down a size so there's no room to wobble. I like that it's lighter and cooler than multiple layers and that it's stretchy. The biggest mistake occurs when the zipper is fully closed, the zipper flap (the extra fabric that should cover the hard, rough parts of the zipper) isn't big enough, so the zipper tab and some of the spiky parts of the zipper are still exposed and could potentially irritate a child's neck where they rub.
