Don't worry, just do it. No seriously, the shell is high quality and looks better live. There are installation videos showing you how to disassemble the controller and install the shell. There was a rubber grommet where the buttons go and I missed it when I first installed it. I had to disassemble my modified controller to install the hub. If you carefully use a plastic tool you can separate the circuit board from the original controller. It just takes a little patience. I've done this method on two controllers, but it may be annoying for some. If you don't want to risk damaging the circuit board, a hair dryer will probably do the trick instead of a hair dryer.
