Over the years I have bought and reviewed many types of cat food here and it is rare that none of our six cats eat the product but I avoid these completely and regret buying a second bag , think that everything will change. We had 7 cats at the cottage as well as a couple of homeless people who came to eat and although they can be picky they all basically ate what we put in front of them when hungry. In winter two locations have food all day and in summer they are fed three times a day due to the ongoing sugar ant problem, but it is canned food in the morning meal and dry food (no grain) the rest of the time. Day. However, grain products are always hard to come by at a reasonable price and paying around $3 a pound is unacceptable, so we look for highly rated food offerings and this turned out to be one of them. They eat all the other brands we bought but want nothing to do with them. We usually hand out 3 kinds dry every day, and everyone sniffs each dish so as not to definitely eat it. A cat, tramp, bites a few bites from time to time, but he most likely eats everything that is cooked, and that's why we call tramp. The rating is based on cats not eating it, and the star count isn't that big of a deal, and although the food costs about thirty dollars a pound, it doesn't matter if they don't eat it, which was amazing because you really like Purina Beyond Grain Ocean Whitefish, but that's about $270 a pound and more than $50 a pound when they were first purchased in June 2017. Cats may have food preferences, but that's the first thing they all avoid. . Both bags were within date range but I'll try to get rid of it by mixing it with something else and see if it helps...but doubtful. I don't like 1 star reviews but I think something like cat food is a pass/fail and if none of the cats want it then it's just a bad buy and it's our first time buying dry food have the last 10 years. -Years. None of our cats consistently eat all of the brands we offer (usually three different ones to choose from) but sooner or later they'll eat all of them if their preferences aren't sorted out, so they're not that picky, which is why I blame the product, not super-picky cats... but your experience may be different. The story... A few years ago our cat had urinary problems: bladder stones that restricted her ability to urinate and caused bleeding, and she was trying to urinate all the time. day to soothe irritation. The vet stated that the reason for the stone formation is the bad ingredients in some dry cat food because the cat cannot process enough liquid to digest the food. He wanted to put her on a special diet of Science Diet Urinary Tract Dry Specialty Blend and then on one of her regular foods for life. It seemed a little useless because initially we fed the cats a decent food like Purina One. We did some research and found that most of the filler in most dry cat foods is actually grain and it is difficult for cats to digest unless they drink plenty of water. The diet we found included homemade cat food consisting of shredded rabbit and chicken pieces with some added vitamins. I tried it and it worked, but it was a hassle to make, the rabbit isn't cheap or easy to find, and takes up a lot of freezer space. Returning to another search, limited canned cat food... and grain-free pellets proved a viable alternative. There aren't many fillers in canned foods, and the most important ones for us are poultry, fish, and meat in pie or gravy form. Cats are using this now and the kidney/urinary tract problems are gone, their coat is better, their urine is more but they urinate less often now because they don't need to consume as much water to process grains and they like them really what they eat. We feed them Friskies & 9-lives in cans and Blue Buffalo Wilderness, Merrick Before Grain, Felidae, Purina Beyond Grain or Taste of the Wild dry. Dry food is getting more expensive, packaging is getting smaller and free shipping offers are disappearing, so it's getting harder to get a deal now, but when we do, we buy more. I can't say enough about how well this new diet is working and every trip to the vet saved is worth more food. In general, cats prefer dry food with a fish flavor. What we do is based on information from Lisa A. Pearson, DVM at Making Cat Food (catinfo.org), and she believes cats need bones, which makes chopping them difficult. We still feed them because it's quite expensive to feed 7 cats plus a couple of homeless people. It's a shame that the packaging is getting smaller, but the prices are staying the same or increasing. We buy grain free kibble from Merrick and Wild Buffalo and the packets now weigh 11 pounds. everyone. However, if you do the math, canned foods are still cheaper per serving. We had a subscription and stock for some other brands but they soon disappeared as they are difficult to ship and recently on some boxed products they disappeared or the price went up significantly. I post the same review for every cat food we buy, rather than editing for a specific brand, unless special mention needs to be made. For example, I used to pay about $8 for canned Friskies in a pack of 24 5.5 ounces, and now they're a little over $16. So if you see offers on this savings program, buy a lot or leave some in your pocket. Cart to see if the price goes down, then subscribe...You'll get the first month's shipping price guaranteed. If this continues... and the price keeps going up, we won't be buying them again, and even with a 15% discount (now up to 5-10% off most items) and free shipping, they cost more than the grocery store. ..about $10 each. A 24-pack is pretty much what we'd pay at the grocery store, although we'll pay a little more just to have it come in a box... Cut the price hike babble!
