You can find many reviews online and YouTube videos on this mic so I'll be short and sweet. this microphone. Yes, you can spend hundreds on another mic (and I did), but unless you have very specific needs, there's really no reason to buy another mic. The Q2U sounds good, rejects background noise very well, and has the basic features you need to get started. If you don't intend to record in a processed environment, DO NOT buy a condenser mic, just use a dynamic mic like the Q2U. I recommend getting a decent stem, but it's just overkill and I'd recommend it for almost any mic you'll be using on your desk. I can't say how it compares to the ATR2100 as I haven't used it, but apart from being cheaper I like the desktop tripod extender which I don't think comes with the ATR 2100 (it works Desktop tripod costs the same as the stage tripod I have, so I take it with me when doing on-site interviews as desktop tripods tend to be a bit short) so I'd suggest sticking with it. Also, the Q2U comes with a windscreen, which I don't think the 2100 package has, so that's another plus. Save time and money and just get started. You can always get a better mic later if you have the cash to spare and the wisdom that comes with experience.
