This was great to take for travel. It worked as an airplane blanket and as a dressier jacket to wear to dinner in autumn cold and light rain. It is not symmetrical, so you can't twist it to hang the same on both sides. If you fold the poncho in half, you get a rectangle with the neck hole at the corner between the folded short end and the sewn long side. That wasn't a worry for me. It worked great with a T-shirt swing dress to dress it up a little, add warmth, and be cozy while still dressed for a nice restaurant. It folds small for travel too.
