95% of reel lines are cheaper than 14 and 16 gauge. In the operation of power installations of any significant size, light cords can present a serious problem and fire hazard because any unwound electrical cord, still tightly coiled on the spool, cannot cool properly when heated by high current. I had this many years ago with an old Granger cable/reel. The cable has melted and shorted out. Luckily the switch went off before it could catch fire. I feel a lot more confident/safe using this 12 gauge cable/reel. The coil spring is definitely strong enough to quickly retract the entire cable despite its weight. The adjustable stop works great. Great product and I don't mind paying a little more to get a quality product.
