They are rough like underpants, but rougher and slightly smaller. I bought several pairs for our Christmas pajamas that we get every year. They last a day but not sure how long after that or if they'll be worn again as the material is rough and uncomfortable for lounging around the house. The design is great, which is why I bought them, but they also only come in adult sizes, not kids sizes, so you'll need to find something else for kids.
