Review on πŸ“· Neewer Q-S TTL Wireless Flash Trigger: Perfect Compatibility with Sony Mirrorless Camera and Q3 NW420 NW655 S101 PRO Flash Monolight, High-Speed Sync, 5 Group Buttons, Advanced Control-Wheel, AF Assist Light, 1/8000s HSS by Jon Russell

The only way to control the Q3's flash, so get used to it.

I don't really care about this trigger, it's too big and while it can also work as a receiver its value is limited as it can only act as a "dumb" receiver but won't drive other sources of light, except to let them go. That being said, I REALLY like the Neewer Q3 flashlight. It's incredible value and I've had no issues with the three I have. Since this is the only transmitter that works with the Q3, I went with it. I'll give a little more information below in case anyone wants to read on. This works great as a trigger for a Neewer Q3 pocket flash and I've also tried it with a Neewer NW655-S flash. HSS and TTL work with both light sources on a Sony camera. (a6500 in my case) Neewer's documentation says it will also control the NW420's flash, but I haven't tried it. I asked Neewer support what other lights QS would control and they didn't answer me. It will NOT trigger my NW880S or V1S strobe lights. Why Niver? Why ANOTHER wireless protocol? QS can also work as a receiver, but ONLY as a dumb receiver, i.e. sync only, no control. There's a hot shoe for turning on the flash, as well as a sync-out for strobes etc. This is of limited use as you can also turn on additional lights as optical slaves in most cases. The QS is huge, much larger than the Xpro-s and looks silly on a smaller mirrorless camera. The screen is the same size (although rotated to QS) and displays roughly the same information as the Xpro-s and works in a similar way.

Pros
  • Remote Trigger
Cons
  • Crumpled
