Comfortable at first, but the smell is annoying - especially for me

With a regular pillow (filled with crushed latex foam) I struggle to stay comfortable all night. I have broad shoulders and sleep on my side. I usually bend my arm and put it under the pillow to keep my head at the right angle. However, this is not a pose I can hold for more than a few hours. So I can turn on my back at some point. I rarely turn around because my roommate snores. That being said, this pillow was mostly comfortable initially. But the smell is terrible! (Not so much in the case as when you unpack it, but when your nose is right on it after about an hour.) I have a very sensitive nose, but I aired the pillow (without the case). . under a fan at the open window for several hours. I put the pillow back in its case and added a very high thread count 100% cotton pillowcase over it and rolled up the edge to make it look like a butterfly popover. It was my attempt to protect myself from the smell. By the way, the listing recommends 48 hours of airtime. (Really? Yes, really.) I decided to let it air out for two days and lay on it for about an hour. However, after about two hours on the pillow, I woke up with a severe headache and tracheal irritation. end time sleeping. I got up, put my cotton pillowcase in the washing machine and put the pillow back in the Revain return box. You can look online and find out that some shape memory foams can contain dangerous chemicals.
